Product transitions to the cloud.microsoft domain – February 2024

Microsoft has recently made available its products and services at the cloud.microsoft domain. The previous domains will be redirected to cloud.microsoft in the coming months. Admins should ensure that connections to *.cloud.microsoft are not blocked from their clients and enterprise networks. Users will be automatically redirected to applications under cloud.microsoft domains without any specific action required on their end.

A unified and trusted DNS domain space that can host Microsoft's authenticated SaaS products and experiences was provided by Microsoft, resulting in the creation of the cloud.microsoft domain in early 2023. A full list of product experiences already being delivered on this domain can be found at the Unified cloud.microsoft domain for Microsoft 365 apps – Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Learn.

The services with the links Microsoft Service Health Status Page (https://status.cloud.microsoft) and Microsoft Setup (https://setup.cloud.microsoft) are already available on cloud.microsoft, in addition to their previous domains. The previous domains can be expected to be redirected to cloud.microsoft in the coming months, which should not cause any significant impact to users in your organization who are already following standard Microsoft network guidance.

There may be some adjustments for users to recognize and expect cloud.microsoft as a domain for Microsoft cloud experiences, as it lacks the “.com” extension, and this is intentional to maintain exclusivity on Microsoft's own top-level domain, which offers additional security and protection against spoofing. For more information, users can refer to What is cloud.microsoft? – Microsoft Support.
