Exchange: Message Recall Option to Disable the Recalling of Read Messages

This post talks about a new feature being released for Exchange Online called Message Recall, which will recall messages that are flagged as read. This is different from the classic Message Recall feature in Outlook, which doesn't recall read messages. However, tenant admins have the option to disable the recalling of read messages for the entire organization. This can be done via the EAC or Remote PowerShell. The new feature will begin rolling out in mid-November, but admins can disable the ability to recall read messages for their organization now. The change in behavior may be confusing for recipients who have read a message but see it disappear from their mailbox shortly thereafter. This content was last updated on October 14, 2022.
If you are a tenant admin, you can decide whether to accept the default behavior of the new Message Recall feature or disable the recalling of read messages for your organization. There is nothing to prepare if you want to accept the default behavior of the feature.
