Announcing the Public Preview of AVD Insights at Scale
I’m excited to announce the public preview of one of our most requested native monitoring features – Azure Virtual Desktop Insights at Scale. This update provides the ability to review performance and diagnostic information across multiple host pools in one view.
Previously, Azure Virtual Desktop Insights only supported the ability to review information related to a single host pool at a time. In many cases this limited visibility into issues that may have an impact across multiple host pools.
Key Benefits
- Ability to report across multiple host pools, resource groups, and subscriptions at once.
- New Round-Trip Time reporting by gateway region.
- Updated utilization details with resources accessed by region.
- No new configuration required for existing Azure Virtual Desktop Insights users.
How can I use it?
The great news is that this update doesn’t require any underlying changes to diagnostic settings or configuration and will be automatically provided without any need for manual work. It makes use of existing diagnostic settings for Azure Virtual Desktop host pools, and anyone that’s currently making use of Azure Virtual Desktop Insights can simply access the preview directly from the Azure Virtual Desktop portal. To access the preview directly visit this URL: https://aka.ms/avdi/preview.
What’s new?
This update also introduces several new features, including a new Insights area in the Host Pool menu that allows access to Azure Virtual Desktop Insights scoped to a specific host pool. In addition, there are updates to the Connection Performance area to expose Round-Trip Time (RTT) (latency) on a per gateway region basis and expanded reporting on user sessions per region and accessed resources.
