Enhanced Admin Controls for Viva Insights

The new capabilities added for Admins in Viva Insights empower them with more control and grant end-users the ability to opt-out of having their user metrics accessed by advanced insights line-level query results-all with a single click. Admins can manage this feature either from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or through PowerShell. By mid-November, these updates will begin to roll out, and by late January 2023, they will be available globally.

Admins can now provide their end-users with more flexibility, where users can choose whether their metrics are included in line-level queries. The selected configuration will apply to organizational collaboration insights, and personal insights features access of opted-out users will be limited. Once a user opts-out of the setting, their user metrics will not be available in advanced insights queries but will continue to feature in other network metrics derived from collaboration data in aggregated form or as percentages.

Any user who has previously chosen to opt-out of receiving personal insights will also be auto-opted-out of having their user metrics included in advanced insights line-level query results; however, they can opt back in at any time, and their settings will still be in place. The update comes with a 24-hour implementation wait-time after activation, and it affects all prior and future inquiries.

This enhancement offers flexibility to organizations deploying Viva Insights, and it signifies a move towards greater end-user control and privacy.
