Prevent/Fix: PnP PowerShell authentication failures
If you are experiencing authentication failures with PnP PowerShell, there are a few steps you can take to prevent and fix the issue. Recent changes to the PnP Management Shell app are causing authentication issues for users, and the resolution involves creating your own Entra application and updating PnP PowerShell. Keep in mind that PnP PowerShell is a community-provided open-source tool that does not have direct support from Microsoft. To fix authentication errors, make sure you're using the latest PnP PowerShell version, create your own Entra application, and set an environment variable with the application ID. The steps for creating an Entra application are outlined in detail in the GitHub repository for PnP PowerShell. Although the PnP PowerShell tool is not directly supported by Microsoft, the community behind it provides best effort support via the issue list and discussion forum in the PnP PowerShell GitHub repository. By following these steps, you can resolve any authentication errors you may be experiencing with PnP PowerShell.
