Microsoft SharePoint Online: New Banner web part (updated title area) in Pages and News

Microsoft SharePoint Online: New Banner web part (updated title area) in Pages and News

Microsoft SharePoint Online is introducing a new feature called Banner web part that allows users to add or remove banners to a page, in addition to the title area, which is no longer mandatory. The update includes new Banner layouts and affects page templates and title synchronization. This update will introduce two new banner layouts: Author and Fade, and will allow users to add one or more banner(s) to any column of a page, including a full-width section. The first banner at the top of the page will be considered as a title, which will be automatically synchronized to the page title on the command bar. Additional banners will function as headings in the page. Users will see updated title areas in the SharePoint page templates, and they can choose to add no banners, one banner, or multiple banners to the page. This update will be rolled out in late May 2024 for targeted release and in mid-June 2024 for general availability. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 386904. No admin action is required before the rollout. Users can choose to restore the title by selecting "Undo" or choosing a Banner after removing a title area.

Overall, this update brings flexibility to Page and News design, enabling users to create more visually appealing and engaging stories within SharePoint Online.
