Track and pause firmware auto-updates for Teams devices from Teams admin center

Track and pause firmware auto-updates for Teams devices from Teams admin center

Teams admin center is getting enhancements for firmware auto-updates of Android-based Teams devices. These enhancements simplify the process of managing device updates, add more visibility into the update process by detailing which devices are receiving updates and when, enhance the regularity of device updates, and provide additional internal safeguards. These changes will be visible in the pages for Teams Phones, Displays, Panels, and Teams Rooms on Android. Teams admin center users will be able to view active updates including relevant details, like device model, number of eligible devices, and the update's active phase.

Admins will also be able to temporarily pause (and resume) auto-updates via an Actions menu widget present on the same pages. Pausing updates stops all firmware auto-updates for fifteen days. Once the pause period elapses, admins can choose to resume updates. Furthermore, Microsoft will mark all software versions they release for Teams devices as Verified by Microsoft.

No action is required from users, as firmware auto-updates will continue to follow the phases previously configured by admins. Rollout of these updates began in late May 2023, and message ID MC556779 is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 119389.
