Changes to the Registration campaign feature in Azure AD
Changes are coming to the registration campaign feature in Azure Active Directory to improve security for users relying on SMS and voice for MFA. Publicly switched telephone networks (PSTN) are considered the weakest forms of MFA, and users will be prompted to switch to the Microsoft Authenticator app starting on July 10th, 2023. After three notifications, registration of the app will be required. Global Administrators or Authentication Policy Administrators can exclude users who need more time to switch. It is recommended to motivate users to stop using SMS and voice for MFA to ensure proper security for their accounts. Message ID: MC584364.
