Quick Access Teams and Sharepoint Document Libraries in win32 backstage
In an effort to make it easier for users to access their content, Microsoft is introducing the Quick Access feature. This feature will enable users to access shared libraries from both their SharePoint and Teams locations, improving the storage location experience across M365 apps. When users open files from shared libraries, they will see a list of libraries, encouraging them to save and open files to these libraries with ease. This new backstage experience will also include storage locations from OneDrive and Teams which are stored on SharePoint but won't be visible in Teams, SharePoint, or OneDrive.
The rollout of this feature will take place in two phases: the Targeted Release, which will begin in early October 2022 and complete by late October 2022, and the Standard Release, which will commence in early January 2023 and finish by late January 2023, respectively.
This feature has the potential to make accessing storage locations much simpler and improve the overall experience for employees. Organizations don't need to take any action to prepare for this change. However, it may be beneficial to notify users and update relevant documentation accordingly. Additionally, this feature will replace the Sites tab in the backstage.
Overall, the Quick Access feature has the potential to make access to shared libraries more efficient and straightforward, streamlining the user experience for employees using Office products.
