Windows enrollment will include quality updates during OOBE
Windows is making an update to its enrollment experience for managed devices to enable quality updates during the out-of-box experience (OOBE), with the aim of ensuring that devices are fully patched and ready to use once enrolled. This change will roll out with the October 2024 security update for Windows 11, version 22H2 and later. For all devices running Windows 11, version 22H2 or later enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution, quality updates will be automatically downloaded and installed during the OOBE, regardless of whether they are pre-registered with Windows Autopilot or not. This will ensure that devices are fully patched before users reach the desktop, with device set up time potentially taking longer depending on internet speed, device performance and last update. It is recommended that users plan accordingly for additional device set up time and extend the Temporary Access Passes validity period, if applicable.
