Microsoft Teams: Enhanced query suggestions when searching for people

Microsoft Teams is set to introduce enhanced people query suggestions, making searches more efficient. This feature will roll out in October 2024, and it is on by default. It will help users remember information about frequently interacted individuals, allowing them to recall relevant content. The update aims to allow users to write search queries quickly and effectively by providing suggestions that are most relevant to the person they frequently interact with by typing the person's name in the Search bar. Users will not need to take any admin action before the rollout, and it will be available on Teams on Windows and Mac desktops. This feature is on by default, and it is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 413112.

By typing in a person's name on the search bar, users can receive query suggestions that closely relate to the frequent interaction, and this will help the user easily recall content related to the person. This feature is set to roll out in two stages: targeted release in early October 2024 and General Availability (Worldwide) in mid-to-late October 2024. Before this rollout, users usually recall information in the context of a specific person and write queries based on their past conversations with that person.

No admin action is required before the scheduled rollout, and users can start using the new feature once it becomes available. It is advisable to inform users to expect the new feature and to update any relevant documentation to avoid confusion.
