Data Loss Prevention for endpoints- Microsoft DLP support for endpoints running Windows on ARM (ARM64)

This post highlights the new capability for customers to extend Microsoft Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and actions to endpoints running Windows on ARM (ARM64), enabling them to detect and protect sensitive data in files on their digital systems. Microsoft Endpoint DLP policies and actions can now be applied to Windows endpoints that use ARM chipsets, allowing admins to introduce policy controls for scenarios such as copying to USB, copying to clipboard, printing, upload to the cloud, and more. The feature requires no additional setting, and admins can leverage current policy conditions and actions that are already available for use. Customers need to ensure their ARM64 endpoints are onboarded to Microsoft Purview DLP by using any of the supported methods. The capability is currently rolling out in Preview and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2023.

This update is relevant to customers who need to secure sensitive data on endpoints running Windows on ARM. They need to ensure their ARM64 endpoints are onboarded to Microsoft Purview DLP and can then use the DLP policy to control data transfer scenarios. Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G, Microsoft Surface Pro X, and Volterra are some of the devices running on ARM64. To prepare for this feature, customers can get started with Data Loss Prevention in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
