Announcing ArcBox for DevOps

Since we released Jumpstart ArcBox 2.0 and the new ITPro flavor, the number of positive responses and customer adoption has been awesome. The new ArcBox modular design allows us to more rapidly iterate, and today we are excited to share a new offering: ArcBox for DevOps.

With the growing number of Azure Arc customers and with Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes being the foundation for other Azure Arc services,  and integrated as part of our new Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes landing zone accelerator, we develop road-tested automation to provide our customers a way to get hands-on with the Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes set of capabilities and features.

Introducing ArcBox for DevOps

With ArcBox for DevOps, we're bringing the same proven core design principles to this new offering. Providing a painless, fully automated deployment for all-things-Azure-Arc is the founding principle of our ArcBox offerings.

We wanted to provide a way for our customers to experience Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes to its fullest right away, so we baked in multiple Jumpstart scenarios. ArcBox for DevOps includes two Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes clusters based on Cluster API (CAPI) and the Azure provider as well as Rancher K3s.

Both clusters are automatically deployed and include integrations with GitOps configurations, Microsoft Open Service Mesh (OSM), and Azure Key Vault. We included both a fully automated, ready-to-go automation but also, a “cleaner” cluster to support you in learning things the manual way. The included sample applications have everything you need to get hands-on with the tech.

To complete the experience, ArcBox has additional built-in integrations for a richer experience with Azure Monitor, Policy, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud. We also support all deployment types so you can pick whatever method suits your needs and skillset - Bicep, ARM Templates, and Terraform are all included.

Additional improvements and optimizations

There are many other optimizations we included as part of this release, which also improve the quality of the other ArcBox flavors- Full and ITPro. We bumped all the CAPI-related versions as well as the Kubernetes versions, new scripting optimizations have been introduced, enhanced logging experience, Azure Virtual Machine SKU size alignments, and improved troubleshooting sections across the board.

New Jumpstart Lighting ArcBox “Nuts & Bolts” video series

Developing ArcBox is fun and delivers value right from day one, but we wanted to do more for the community. That’s why we are sharing a new, 5-part “Nuts & Bolts” video series as part of the Jumpstart Lightning show to walk you through the architecture and the things that make ArcBox a unique automated solution.
