New Microsoft 365 app launcher for web apps
Microsoft 365 is updating its app launcher for web apps with a more modern and consistent look that includes a quick search feature, one-click options for creating popular content types, and the apps in the same order for each user. The new app launcher will be rolled out automatically to all users by late June 2024, replacing the existing app launcher in most Microsoft 365 web apps, including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. However, the "Documents" section that shows a short list of recently accessed documents will be removed with the update. No action is required to prepare for the rollout, and users will see the same set of applications as before with a modern layout. Admin settings related to the app launcher will remain the same after the rollout.
