Exchange Online Protection: Bulk Filter (BCL) Improvements
Exchange Online Protection (EOP) is making changes to its bulk complaint level (BCL) scoring system to improve the accuracy of score allocation and coverage for bulk messages. The threshold for the strict policy will also be updated from 4 to 5 to align with the new scoring system. Additionally, customers using Microsoft Defender for Office P2 or E5 licenses can view the BCL score for a message in advanced hunting. This change is expected to improve the handling of bulk messages within organizations and should not impact users. However, it is recommended that organizations review their Antispam policies to ensure appropriate BCL values are set, particularly if the threshold is 4 or less. The changes will begin rolling out in mid-November and will be completed by late January 2023.
