Microsoft Teams: Expanded search options for 1:1 chats

Microsoft Teams is set to introduce a new feature that expands search options for 1:1 chats. This capability will enable users to conduct more in-depth searches for content related to a specific person across Teams. The feature will be available on Windows, Mac, and the web, starting early August 2024, and is expected to be completed by mid-August 2024. This new search capability will be enabled by default and will allow users to filter and expand their search results by person, with or without keywords, across Teams.

Before this rollout, users searching for keywords within a 1:1 chat had no option to expand the search to all results related to the person within Teams. After the rollout, users will receive a suggestion at the end of their search to expand their search results across Teams, either by pairing their search keywords with the person in the chat or by viewing all results in Teams related to the person in the chat. There will be no admin action required before the rollout, and the feature will be accessible to all Microsoft Teams users.
