Microsoft Teams: Microsoft 365 Copilot for phone without transcription

Microsoft Teams will release a feature in June 2025 allowing users to use Copilot during calls without retaining transcripts or recordings. Post-call functions like recaps will not be available. Admins can configure this setting via the Calling policy. More details to follow. We are releasing a new feature that enables users to leverage Copilot’s capabilities during live call sessions without retaining transcripts or an audio recording afterward. This ensures that users can benefit from Copilot during sensitive conversations where a persistent record is not desired. Post-call Copilot functions, such as recap, will not be available after the call concludes. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 482745. When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out early June 2025 and expect to complete by late June 2025. How this will affect your organization: Users who have transcription turned off will be now able to use Copilot. What you need to do to prepare: Admin settings will be made available as part of the Calling policy to allow admins to configure the setting for their users. More details to follow.
