Dynamics 365 Project Operations – Improve NTE reliability and validation coverage

We are announcing the ability to improve Not-To-Exceed (NTE) reliability and validation coverage in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This feature will reach public preview on September 30, 2026. How does this affect me? This feature provides consistent control over NTE limits across every billable type, so users avoid over-billing, and protect revenue. The core capabilities of this feature include: Extends NTE validation beyond time entries to include expense, material, and fixed-price components. Enhances the Invoice Confirmation Service to block confirmation when Total Billed + Unbilled Committed > NTE Amount. Fixes bugs where NTE status fails to update on approval records due to custom plugin conflicts, ensuring deterministic results. What action do I need to take?
