Microsoft 365 Apps admin center: New Cloud Update Deactivation available now
The Microsoft 365 Apps admin center has introduced a new feature that allows admins to deactivate Cloud Update for specific channels, immediately impacting onboarded customers. Existing settings and preferences will not change, and devices will be updated within 30 minutes of deactivation. The deactivation feature is not available for legacy servicing profiles. This new capability is available for Monthly Enterprise Channel and Current Channels. Admins can easily deactivate the channel in Cloud Update by selecting the profile of the channel to be deactivated, clicking the Settings tab, and then selecting Cloud Update review. Then, in the Deactivating Current Channel window, they must enter the deactivation reason and/or choose to be contacted about received feedback, and finally submit the deactivation request. The new Cloud Update Deactivation feature is tailored to encourage users to switch to the new Microsoft 365 update management.
For devices on deactivated channels, their profile state will be set to Deactivated, and inventory Cloud Update status will be updated within 30 minutes to be Eligible for Monthly Enterprise Channel and/or Eligible for Current Channel. The Deactivation feature is not applicable for legacy servicing profiles; it only works for Cloud Update. However, this capability won't affect your update channel configuration.
This new feature is available immediately for users onboarded to Cloud Update. Therefore, it is unnecessary to take extra steps to activate it. The post Microsoft 365 Apps admin center: New Cloud Update Deactivation available now originally appeared on M365 Admin.
