Updates to natural language-based search in Microsoft 365

Updates to natural language-based search in Microsoft 365

In a bid to enhance search functionality, Microsoft 365 will begin reducing support for Natural Language-Based Search in favor of keyword-based searches from early July 2024. This change will affect several Microsoft 365 products, including Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Search on Bing and office.com. To ease the transition, users can make use of search filters to help refine their search. While standard keyword-based searches will continue to be the primary method for accessing information, search filters and some natural language queries will still be supported. Users should, however, note that certain types of queries will no longer work as expected with the phasing out of Natural Language-Based Search. These changes will roll out gradually starting in early July 2024 and are expected to be completed by late July 2024. For more information and to prepare for the changes, users can refer to the Updates to natural language-based search in Microsoft 365 documentation and utilize search filters provided within each Microsoft 365 product to refine search results.
