Power Platform – Customer-Managed Key (CMK) service updates new feature announcements

The Power Platform is rolling out new updates to its Customer-Managed Key (CMK) service, which allows organizations to manage their encryption keys in their Azure key vault and utilize separate encryption keys for different Dataverse environments. The updates, which will be available on Friday, September 8, 2023, include the ability to encrypt environments with keys from Azure Key vault with private link, encrypt environment data with keys from Azure Key Vault managed HSM, and auto-rotate encryption keys using Azure Key Vault key version. To apply encryption keys to Dataverse environments, users will need an Azure key vault administrator who can create an encryption key and grant key access to a Power Platform Enterprise policy, and a Power Platform or Dynamics 365 service admin who can enable the BYOK environment to Managed Environment and apply encryption keys to Power Platform environments.
