New in Microsoft 365 Copilot: Self-serve Copilot Connectors

Microsoft 365 Copilot now offers self-serve connectors, allowing users to securely sync external data like Jira and Confluence with their credentials. Administrators control connector availability and rollout. This feature enhances information discovery in Copilot Chat and Microsoft Search, with a worldwide rollout from August to October 2026. What and Why: Self-serve sync Copilot connectors enable users to securely connect their own external data sources, such as Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud, to Microsoft 365 Copilot using their existing credentials and permissions. Content that users already have access to can be synchronized and made discoverable in Copilot Chat and Microsoft Search. This capability helps users find relevant information across their work tools, reduce context switching, and gain greater value from Microsoft 365 Copilot while maintaining organizational governance through administrator controls. Rollout Schedule: Public Preview (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in late August 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-September 2026. General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in mid-September 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026. Impact on Your Organization: This update applies to organizations using Microsoft 365 Copilot. Platforms and services: Microsoft 365 Copilot Copilot Chat Microsoft Search Microsoft 365 admin center With self-serve sync connectors, users can connect supported third-party services, such as Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud, and make content they already have permission to access available in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Search. Self-serve connectors are enabled by default. Before connectors become available to users, administrators can review and manage the available connectors in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users can securely connect supported external work sources using their own credentials and permissions. Content from connected sources can become discoverable in Copilot Chat and Microsoft Search. Administrators can enable or disable individual connectors. Administrators can stage rollout to specific Microsoft Entra ID groups.
