On Demand Capacity Reservation now in Azure for US Gov | Azure Compute
Azure for US Government Cloud users can now utilize on-demand capacity reservations for Azure Virtual Machines with guaranteed SLA for VM sizes. These reservations allow businesses to protect capacity in business-critical applications, set aside compute capacity for disaster recovery, and handle the extra demands of special events. The feature is available via Portal, PowerShell, CLI, and REST API. Unused reserved capacity and virtual machines using reserved capacity are eligible for Azure Reserved Virtual Machine Instance term discounts. The basic capability to use the On Demand Capacity Reservation feature is now generally available in Azure for US Government, and VM deployment methods supported include single VMs and Virtual Machine Scale Sets. Future plans involve expanding the footprint of the feature to other clouds like Azure in China and beyond.
If you're interested in taking advantage of this innovative capability, Microsoft has provided step-by-step documentation, as well as sample code, along with two demonstration videos on the feature.
