Expanded reactions in Microsoft Teams

Expanded reactions in Microsoft Teams

This upcoming update in Microsoft Teams is set to offer richer communication experiences and strengthen relationships through expanded reactions. Users will now be able to select from over 800 existing Teams emojis to react to chat or channel messages, allowing for greater personal expression. The new reactions UX will feature a reduced number of quick hover options in favor of an expanded reaction button, along with a reaction summary moved to the bottom of the message bubble to accommodate the new range of options. This feature will be available across Teams desktop apps, Teams mobile, and Teams on the web. The rollout is scheduled for mid-September and expected to be completed by late-November for standard release.

No action is required from tenant admins, who can rest assured that users will continue to have access to existing reactions and the expanded set. Additionally, the feature does not have any associated settings for enablement or disablement. When using the feature, a reaction menu can be accessed by hovering over a message, allowing for the viewing of reaction bubbles and who added them. Channels on both chat and channel will support this feature.

Microsoft Teams continues to evolve, offering new and innovative features that help organizations engage with their teams in thoughtful and creative ways, ultimately resulting in more collaborative and dynamic experiences that drive better business outcomes.
