Azure Migrate - Build 2024 Announcements
Microsoft Build introduced exciting new announcements for Azure Migrate. Cost optimization remains a top priority for customers when selecting a data center for IT workload. Software licenses and capital/operating expenses make up most of the customer data center costs. With Azure, you can reduce and lock in costs and have access to AI services and sustainability measures.
Azure Migrate enables a workload agnostic approach for migrating and modernizing in Azure, and during the event, new features were highlighted that enable deeper insights and cost savings while allowing you to move and manage workloads. Here are some of the newly announced features of Azure Migrate:
- Cost-effective Linux migrations: Microsoft announced support for Azure Hybrid Benefits (AHuB) during assessments and business cases for Linux workloads. This will allow for higher savings for RHEL and SLES Linux workloads moving to Azure through Azure Migrate.
- SAP workload readiness: You can now import your SAP system inventory using a simple excel template (csv) and get a comprehensive assessment report with Azure sizing recommendations, cost estimates, and compatibility analysis for running your SAP workloads on Azure.
- On-premises extension for VMware workloads: Microsoft is set to enable migrating Windows and Linux virtual machines (VM) from vCenter to the latest feature release of Azure Stack HCI.
Get started with Azure today and check out Azure Migrate's new features to further optimize cost and management of your workload.
For migration assistance, you can try Azure Migrate and Modernize and Azure Innovate which offer expert migration help or contact your preferred partner or Microsoft field for next steps.
