Microsoft 365 Copilot: Use Microsoft Agent 365 agents as connected agents in declarative agents

Microsoft 365 now supports Microsoft Agent 365 agents using the Agent2Agent protocol as connected agents in declarative agents, enhancing AI interactions and workflows. Administrators manage and approve these agents via the Microsoft 365 admin center. Rollout begins late August 2026, expanding flexibility and governance for developers and users. Microsoft is introducing support for Microsoft Agent 365 agents that implement the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, allowing them to be used as connected agents in declarative agents built with Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit. This enhancement expands the types of external agent services that declarative agents can connect to. In addition to existing support for OpenAPI and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, declarative agents can now connect to Agent2Agent-enabled agents, enabling natural language interactions and support for more complex workflows. This feature gives developers greater flexibility when building declarative agents while providing administrators centralized management and governance through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users cannot install Agent2Agent-enabled Microsoft Agent 365 agents themselves. Administrators can review Agent2Agent-connected agents from the Connected agents tab in the declarative agent details page before approving their use.
