Microsoft Teams: Updating the Bookings app to the Virtual Appointments app

Microsoft is updating its Bookings application to the Virtual Appointments app in Teams to ensure feature parity across all entry points and provide a consistent user experience. Currently, Bookings is supported through various entry points, such as Teams, Outlook, and the web, but inconsistencies in the feature set have resulted in a fragmented experience. As a result, Microsoft has received feedback to unify and provide feature parity in Bookings across all entry points. While the updated Bookings Teams app will have feature parity and a consistent user experience with the Bookings web app, some features such as Forms, Queuing, and scheduler-initiated SMS reminders will be available only on the new Virtual Appointments app on Teams. The Virtual Appointments app is designed as an end-to-end B2C meetings solution that utilizes Bookings as a scheduling engine and incorporates advanced virtual appointment features. The rollout of this update will begin in late June 2023 and is expected to be complete by early July 2023. Organizations should transition users who need the Que tab, Forms integration, and SMS reminders for scheduler-initiated scheduling from Bookings Teams app to the Virtual appointments app, as they will no longer be available in the updated Bookings app in Teams.
