Cowork browser use setting renamed to Browser use in Microsoft Copilot
The Cowork settings panel in Microsoft Copilot is renamed to Browser use in Microsoft Copilot to improve discoverability. This change, rolling out in mid-October 2026, does not affect functionality or configurations. No action is required; admins will find the setting under the new name. Introduction We’re renaming the Cowork settings panel in Copilot Settings to Browser use in Microsoft Copilot. This panel contains the setting that lets admins manage whether Copilot apps can use the Microsoft Edge browser to perform tasks on behalf of users. This change makes the browser use setting easier for admins to find and manage as we organize Cowork-related controls into more discoverable, capability-specific settings. There is no change to the setting’s functionality or existing configuration as part of this rename. When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out on mid October 2026 and expect to complete by mid October 2026. How this will affect your organization: The Cowork settings panel will be renamed to Browser use in Microsoft Copilot. The new name makes it easier for admins to identify and discover the setting that controls whether Copilot apps can use the Microsoft Edge browser to perform tasks on behalf of users. There is no change to the functionality or existing configuration of the setting as a result of this rename. What you need to do to prepare: No action is required. Existing configurations will remain unchanged. Admins should be aware that the setting previously found under Cowork will now appear as Browser use in Microsoft Copilot in Copilot Settings.
