Microsoft Teams: Record video clips in channels
Users will soon be able to record video clips in Microsoft Teams channels, similar to chat. This feature will respect existing video message policies. It will be available worldwide by early 2025 and for GCC High, DoD by mid-March 2025. No admin action is required before rollout. Coming soon: Users will be able to record video clips in Microsoft Teams channels, just like users can in Teams chat. Users can record themselves, their screen, or audio-only clips and send them in a channel as a new post or a reply. Recording in channels respects the same Video messages policy as recording in chat. As an admin, if you have already enabled or disabled this policy for recording in chat, we will respect it for recording in channels too. When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Available now, since early 2025. General Availability (GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out early March 2025 and expect to complete by mid-March 2025. How this will affect your organization: After this rollout, a new Record video clip option will appear in the compose box under the Actions and apps button for channel posts or channel replies. A similar button already exists in the chat experience. View image in new tab What you need to do to prepare: This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation. Learn more: Record a video or audio clip in Microsoft Teams – Microsoft Support Message ID: MC1020203
