Customized PowerBI reports behavior after major report updates

Microsoft Viva Insights customized Power BI reports will remain tied to their original report versions and won’t auto-update with major report changes. Users must create new customized reports from the latest versions to access updated data and features. No admin action or policy changes are needed. What and Why: Microsoft is updating how Viva Insights customized Power BI reports are managed when major out-of-the-box report updates are released. Customized reports will remain associated with the report version from which they were originally created and will not be automatically migrated to newer report versions. This approach preserves report integrity and prevents customizations from breaking or behaving unexpectedly when significant report updates are introduced. Users retain access to their existing customized reports while maintaining control over when to adopt newer report versions and capabilities. Rollout Schedule: Available now. Users may see an “A newer version of this report is available” message. Users who need the latest data and capabilities must create a new customized copy from the latest report version. No admin configuration is required. No policy or tenant setting changes are introduced. Example: A customized Copilot Adoption report based on an older report version may continue displaying data through July 26, while the latest report displays data through August 8. The customized report remains on the older version and does not automatically receive newer data. Action Required/Recommendations: No administrative action is required.
