Expanded Copilot in Viva Engage updates
Expanded Copilot in Viva Engage will transform it into a personalized AI companion, helping users stay informed, discover insights, and recall information. Rollout begins in July 2025 for Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed users. Ensure proper licensing, communicate changes, and update training materials. Compliance considerations include data storage and AI capabilities. We’re introducing the next evolution of Copilot in Engage—transforming it from a writing assistant into a personalized AI companion. This enhanced experience helps users stay informed, discover insights, and recall important information across their network. This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 481282 When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins in July 2025, with full availability to Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed Engage customers by end of July 2025. How this affects your organization: Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will gain access to new capabilities in Engage, including: Community Catch-Up: Stay current on conversations, trending content, and key updates in your network. Information Discovery: Find relevant insights and answers from colleagues, communities, and storylines. Recall: Retrieve past conversations, updates, and shared knowledge quickly. These features are built on the Avalon/M365 Copilot platform and leverage Microsoft Graph data for a deeply integrated experience. View image in new tab Note: Users without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will not have access to these enhanced capabilities. What you can do to prepare: Review licensing: Ensure users who need access are assigned the Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Communicate the change: Let users know about the new capabilities and how they can benefit from them. Update training materials: Reflect the new Copilot experience in Engage.
