Microsoft Teams: Third-party synthetic audio and video detection in meetings
Microsoft Teams will support integration with certified third-party synthetic audio and video detection solutions to enhance meeting security. Organizations must select and deploy these providers, who analyze media for deepfakes. Rollout starts mid-November 2026, enabling admins to configure policies and manage permissions accordingly. Third-party detection solutions analyze meeting media for signs of synthetic or manipulated audio and video and send detection signals to Teams, enabling integrated in-meeting experiences and controls. Important: Synthetic media detection is performed by the third-party provider. Microsoft Teams provides the platform integration and experiences for surfacing and acting on detection signals from supported providers. This gives customers more flexibility to meet security and compliance needs while enabling users to make more informed trust decisions during meetings.
