Microsoft Teams: Updated sender email address for channel guest invitations

Microsoft Teams will update the sender email for channel guest invitations from [email protected] to [email protected] between September and October 2025. This automatic change improves email delivery, requires no user action, and may need updates to email filtering or allow lists. Introduction To support backend service improvements and enhance email deliverability, Microsoft Teams is updating the default sender address used for guest access invitations to Teams channels. This change helps ensure consistent delivery and recognition of invitation emails. When this will happen General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-September 2025 and expect to complete by early October 2025. General Availability (GCC High and DoD): We will begin rolling out mid-October 2025 and expect to complete by late October 2025. How this affects your organization The sender address for Teams guest invitations will change from [email protected] to [email protected]. This change is applied automatically and is enabled by default. End users cannot disable or revert this change. After rollout, the previous sender address will no longer be used. No impact to invitation functionality or guest access behavior is expected. What you can do to prepare Review any email filtering, allow lists, or security policies that rely on sender addresses to ensure [email protected] is permitted. Communicate this change to help desk teams to reduce potential confusion or support calls. No additional configuration is required.
