Granular Policies for Request Files

In a bid to help customers configure sharing in their tenant to suit their specific needs and scenarios, Microsoft is introducing new policies to Request Files and Anyone links. With these new policies, customers can enable Anyone links exclusively for the Request Files feature and disable it for the standard Anyone links that apply to other files and folders. This update is expected to roll out in two waves from late September to late October. In the first wave, which begins in early September, customers can use the SharePoint Online Management Shell to enable the Request Files feature even when Anyone Links are disabled. Customers who are not interested in changing this setting will not be affected by the rollout.
To access the new parameter, you will need to download the latest version of the SPO Management Shell and then run Set-SPOTenant -OneDriveRequestFilesLinkEnabled $true. It is important to note that changing this setting at this time will not impact users until the second wave of the feature rolls out in late September/October. To learn more about the new policies, you can read the documentation on Set-SPOTenant and Set-SPOSite.
