AI in SharePoint (Knowledge Agent) – New Capabilities Available

AI in SharePoint, formerly Knowledge Agent, is being refreshed with expanded AI capabilities for natural language planning and execution in SharePoint. Rolling out from March 2026 to Microsoft 365 Copilot–licensed users in opted-in tenants, it requires enabling Anthropic as a subprocessor for full functionality. You’re receiving this message because your tenant is opted in to the SharePoint Knowledge Agent public preview, which is being refreshed and renamed AI in SharePoint. As part of this refresh, we’re rolling out new, expanded AI capabilities that help teams plan, build, and evolve SharePoint solutions using natural language—directly in the flow of work. When this will happen: Public Preview (Production): Rolling out starting March 2026 Who is affected: Microsoft 365 Copilot–licensed users in tenants who have opted-in to public preview. How this affects your organization: AI in SharePoint now goes beyond answering questions to actively planning and executing work across SharePoint, including expanded, action-oriented capabilities that help teams move from intent to execution using natural language. Users can describe what they want to build and have SharePoint plan and create solutions across sites, pages, lists, and libraries, edit and refine pages directly on the canvas, automatically organize libraries with AI-powered metadata and enrichment, manage lists conversationally including schema changes and updates, and, coming soon, generate consistent, repeatable documents from templates and forms. Important notice about model usage and admin controls AI in SharePoint’s refreshed experience uses an Anthropic reasoning model to support advanced, multi-step planning and execution. In some regions, tenant admins may need to allow Anthropic as a sub processor for Microsoft Online Services for these new capabilities to work.
