Microsoft Edge: Auto-discarding Sleeping Tabs

Microsoft Edge: Auto-discarding Sleeping Tabs

Microsoft Edge has introduced a new feature that automatically discards tabs that have been inactive for an extended period of time to save memory. These "sleeping" tabs will need to be reloaded when a user navigates back to them. The AutoDiscardSleepingTabsEnabled policy can be used to manage this feature. It's important to note that this policy is only enabled if the SleepingTabsEnabled policy is also enabled. This feature was released on May CY2024 and can be found on the web cloud platform. For more information, refer to the roadmap ID 392848.

If you're managing Microsoft Edge, this new feature can help optimize your users' experience and improve system performance. Get ahead of the game by familiarizing yourself with the AutoDiscardSleepingTabsEnabled policy.
