Microsoft 365 Copilot: Multimodal capture in Copilot Notebooks in the OneNote mobile app (iOS)

Microsoft 365 Copilot introduces multimodal capture in OneNote mobile (iOS) Copilot Notebooks, combining audio transcription, image capture, and typed notes into one session. Available now in preview, general rollout occurs April–May 2026. It requires appropriate licenses and user consent for transcription. Introduction We’re introducing multimodal capture in Copilot Notebooks in the Microsoft OneNote mobile app (iOS). It helps users capture in‑person and on‑the‑go work by combining audio transcription, image capture, and typed notes in a single session. After the session, Microsoft 365 Copilot creates a structured Copilot Page with insights and user‑captured content, which is saved to the user’s selected Copilot Notebook. This experience is designed for scenarios such as in‑person conversations, brainstorming sessions, whiteboard discussions, and personal note taking. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 559095. When this will happen Available now: Frontier and Microsoft 365 Insiders (Public Preview) General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout starts in late April 2026. Rollout completes in mid‑May 2026. How this affects your organization Who is affected Users with access to Copilot Notebooks using the Microsoft OneNote mobile app (iOS) Requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and a SharePoint or OneDrive license.  What will happen What you can do to prepare By default, this feature will be automatically enabled for all eligible users. No admin action is required to prepare for this feature. Inform eligible users about this new capability and applicable organizational policies related to transcription, obtaining consent, and note capture. Eligible users can start a multimodal capture session in Copilot Notebooks from within the OneNote mobile app (iOS). Users can transcribe audio, capture images, and type notes in a single session. Microsoft 365 Copilot creates a structured Copilot Page with insights and user‑captured content. The Copilot Page is added to a user‑selected Copilot Notebook. Your organization is responsible for ensuring that users obtain adequate consent under applicable law from participants in each conversation before transcribing.
