Badges on profile cards in Teams
Microsoft Teams profile cards will display Awards and Certifications from Microsoft 365 profiles starting mid-September 2026. This read-only feature appears if these properties are populated, showing titles and issuers with details on selection. It also applies to Outlook and Microsoft 365 Copilot app. No action needed if already used. What and why: We are updating profile cards in Microsoft Teams to display existing Awards and Certifications profile properties from the Microsoft 365 profile schema. This feature previously rolled out to Outlook and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app in April 2026 and will now be available in Teams profile cards. Rollout schedule: Targeted Release (Worldwide): Rollout begins in mid-September 2026 and is expected to complete by end September 2026. General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout begins in early-October 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026. Impact on your organization: Who is affected: All users in organizations that populate the Awards and Certifications properties in Microsoft 365 profiles. What will happen: A new Awards and Certifications section will be added to profile cards in Teams in the Overview and Contact tabs, below the Skills section. Each award or certification entry will display the title and issuer by default. Selecting a badge will reveal additional details, including the description and award date. If your organization does not currently populate these profile properties, no changes will be visible and the new section will not appear on profile cards. Platforms and services: Microsoft Teams Microsoft Outlook Microsoft 365 Copilot app Microsoft 365 profile cards Action required / Recommendations: Review your organization’s Microsoft 365 profile data and determine whether the Awards and Certifications properties are populated for users. Values stored in these fields will become visible on profile cards in Teams, Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. If your organization already uses the Awards and Certifications fields in the Microsoft 365 profile schema, no action is required. Note that the profile card experience is read-only. Users cannot create, edit, or manage awards and certifications directly from the profile card. Review the support documentation: View awards and certification badges on your profile card. Compliance considerations: No […]
