Microsoft Teams Compact Chat List

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new Compact Chat List feature that will allow users to have hidden message previews in their message list. The primary goal of this new design is to make conversations more private, enable users to view more chats simultaneously, and navigate their chat list more efficiently. This feature is coming to the existing compact mode across Microsoft Teams Desktop and Web in the form of a condensed view for compact mode users.

The feature is expected to be available for commercial tenants by late June for standard release, and for GCC, GCCH, and DoD, it will be rolled out in July, August, and September, respectively. Users can access this feature by navigating to Settings, then “Chat density” under the “General” tab, then choose “Compact”. When users exit the Settings menu, they will see a more condensed view of messages in the message pane and a compacted chat list that includes hidden message previews.

If you are using Teams, you may want to notify your users about this upcoming feature that will be available in compact mode. This feature is expected to be available in the new Teams desktop experience later this year.
