Teams meeting templates: Fundamentals and security upgrade

Microsoft is upgrading Teams meeting templates backend for better security, requiring supported Teams and Outlook versions by June 30, 2026. Meeting templates function remains unchanged but need Teams Premium license. Users must update to specified minimum versions; no admin action needed. Communicate changes and ensure app restarts for updates. Introduction Microsoft is upgrading the backend service that powers Teams meeting templates to improve security and reliability. As part of this change, meeting templates will require supported versions of Microsoft Teams and Outlook clients. Meeting templates functionality and user experience remain unchanged. Meeting templates is a Teams Premium feature and requires the appropriate license to be enabled for users.
