Microsoft Defender for Endpoint: Support continues after Log Analytics Agent retires on August 31, 2024

If you're using the Log Analytics Agent to monitor your virtual machines or servers, and you also use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, this notification is for you. Effective August 31, 2024, the Log Analytics Agent will retire. Nevertheless, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint will continue to be supported, and no immediate action is expected for devices employing it.

However, Cybersecurity industry best practices are recommended to upgrade to the latest available agent when possible, and certain versions will stop functioning after October 1, 2024. Therefore, it is suggested that you check to see if your devices are running the latest Defender for Endpoint agent. You don't have to take instant action regarding the retirement of the Log Analytics Agent, but it is recommended that you notify your admins and update any relevant documentation.
