Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Copilot chat active users in Teams counted as Teams Copilot active users

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 is undergoing some changes, with the active users of Copilot chat in Teams set to count towards Teams Copilot usage. This will potentially lead to an increase in active user metrics in reports. The rollout is scheduled to begin in late July 2024, and there is no requirement for admin action. However, custom reports using Copilot usage data may need to be adjusted. Following the rollout, users of Microsoft Copilot with Graph-grounded chat in Microsoft Teams will be counted towards the overall active user count for Copilot in Teams in the Copilot for Microsoft 365 Usage report in the Microsoft 365 admin center as well as in the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard for Microsoft 365 customers in Viva Insights. This will likely increase the count of active users of Copilot in Teams in these reports. A Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license is required to use these features.
