Microsoft 365: Organizational data ingestion – new updates

Microsoft 365 updates organizational data ingestion with enhanced attribute access, mapping, new connectors, and a new admin role. It unifies ingestion for Viva Insights and Viva Glint, supports parallel data sources, requires no new licenses except for Viva Insights/Glint features, and rolls out globally by early October 2025. We’re introducing a major update to organizational data ingestion in Microsoft 365 that enhances flexibility, control, and destination support. This release includes attribute access and mapping, new connector availability, and a new admin role. It also expands ingestion support to Viva Insights and Viva Glint, helping organizations streamline data flows across Microsoft Viva experiences. When this will happen: Public Preview: Began in early September 2025; completed in mid-September 2025. General Availability (Worldwide): Begins late September 2025; completes by early October 2025. How this affects your organization: Who is affected: Admins managing organizational data ingestion and Microsoft Viva scenarios. What will happen: Microsoft 365 will support connectors with custom attribute ingestion, allowing organizations to choose automated workflows that best suit their needs and ingest data from multiple distinct sources in parallel. Attribute mapping and access controls will be enhanced to streamline the source-to-destination mapping process and enable selective sharing of attributes by app, helping protect sensitive and custom data. Ingestion support will be unified across Viva scenarios, with a single ingestion point now serving Viva Insights and Viva Glint, in addition to existing support for Profile, Viva Amplify, and Viva Engage. No new licenses are required to access the platform. However, a Viva Insights and Viva Glint license is required to access the extended features.
