Microsoft Power Platform governance and administration – Secure Dataverse record with column-based filtering
Update: Release of this feature has been updated. We are announcing the ability for admins to use filtered views to select and manage record-level access securely by defining security based on certain values of a field in Microsoft Power Platform governance and administration. This feature will reach public preview on October 16, 2026. How does this affect me? This enhancement introduces column-based security filtering, enabling records to be secured using attribute values rather than traditional ownership. This allows security admins to define access based on business dimensions such as region or department, making it ideal for scenarios where record ownership does not exist, such as reporting and aggregated datasets. By eliminating the need for artificial ownership or complex sharing models, this approach simplifies security administration, improves scalability, and aligns Dataverse access control more closely with enterprise data governance practices. What action do I need to take? This message is for awareness, and no action is required. Message ID: MC1465569
