The date picker is a welcome addition and will help our users quite a lot.

Could you please consider defaulting to (and highlighting) the current date in the manual selection instead of the last available date in the date column?

This is the standard behavior for manual date pickers from booking websites etc.
It allows a much smoother user experience, considering that users probably want to select dates close to the current date.
