Microsoft Teams: Local Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) controls for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will add native local Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera controls for compatible mechanical or optical PTZ cameras, allowing users to adjust cameras directly from the room console during meetings. Rollout starts September 2026, requires no action, and support for digital PTZ will come later. What and why: Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will introduce native Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera controls directly from the in-room console for compatible cameras. This enhancement enables room users to manually pan, tilt, and zoom supported cameras during meetings without requiring a separate remote control or vendor-specific application. At initial release, support is available for cameras that provide mechanical or optical PTZ capabilities. Support for digital PTZ cameras will be added in a future update. This is an additive feature and does not change or remove existing camera functionality. Rollout Schedule: Public Preview (Worldwide): Rollout begins in early September 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026. General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Rollout begins in mid-September 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-October 2026. Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected Organizations using Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows devices. Meeting participants using rooms equipped with compatible PTZ-capable cameras. Support staff and room administrators responsible for Teams Rooms devices. Platforms and Services Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows Compatible PTZ cameras connected to Teams Rooms systems What will happen Users will be able to manually control camera pan, tilt, and zoom functions directly from the Teams Rooms console during meetings. The feature provides local camera framing adjustments without requiring a physical remote control or camera vendor application. Initial support is limited to cameras that support mechanical or optical PTZ. Support for digital PTZ cameras will be introduced in a future update. The feature will be enabled automatically on eligible Teams Rooms on Windows devices with compatible PTZ cameras. Rooms without PTZ-capable cameras will not be affected. Action Required / Recommendations: No action is required to enable the feature.
