Power Platform – Newer GPT models replace Anthropic, Grok, and earlier GPT models
We are updating the models available in prompts in Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Power Apps to bring newer OpenAI GPT models to the Basic, Standard, and Premium tiers, with no change to tier pricing. As part of this update, we’re retiring the Anthropic and Grok models and earlier GPT models listed below. Existing prompts using these models will automatically move to the replacement for their current tier, providing access to newer models while preserving your tier selection. This update will be applied on December 2, 2026. How does this affect me? This change affects makers, administrators, and users of solutions that use prompts configured with one of the retiring models, including prompts used in Power Apps, Power Automate, and Microsoft Copilot Studio. The models listed below will be fully retired by December 2, 2026. Automatic migration of affected prompts will be completed by this date. table, td, tr, th {border: 1px solid #243a5e; border-collapse: collapse;} th {text-align: center; background-color: #243a5e; color: #fff;} Tier Retiring model Replacement model Basic GPT-4.1 mini GPT-6 Luna Standard GPT-4.1, GPT-5 chat, GPT-5.3 chat, Claude Sonnet 4.6, Grok 4.1 Fast reasoning ChatGPT-latest Premium GPT-5 reasoning, GPT-5.2 reasoning, Claude Opus 4.6 GPT-6 Reasoning Migration is automatic for affected prompts. Makers do not need to select a replacement to receive the update. Tier pricing will not change as part of this migration. Actual consumption and costs can vary with usage, including input and output token counts. Responses can differ after migration, including wording, formatting, and how instructions are followed. Review solutions that depend on specific output structures or behavior. After retirement, the previous models will no longer be available in prompts. Keeping an affected prompt configured with a retiring model will not prevent migration. What action do I need to take? Review and test your affected prompts before December 2, 2026. To do this: Identify prompts using the retiring models and the apps, flows, and agents that depend on them. Test with the replacement model for each tier as it becomes available in the prompt builder. Use representative inputs to check response quality, output formats, and downstream […]
