New Outlook: “Automatically dismiss reminders for past events” will be on by default for Reminder window users

“Automatically dismiss reminders for past events” will be enabled by default in the new Outlook for Windows. This change will start rolling out in March 2025 and complete by May 2025. Users can re-enable past-due event reminders in Settings. The existing Reminder feature in new Microsoft Outlook for Windows pops up over the user’s email or calendar to let them know a scheduled event is about to start. We plan to enable the “Automatically dismiss reminders for past events” option for all users, which will stop reminders from popping up for events that have already passed. You can re-enable your past-due event reminders by visiting Settings > General > Notifications > expanding the Calendar section > and deselecting Automatically dismiss reminders for past events.
