New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Add custom sounds for new mail notifications, mail reactions, and Calendar reminders

New Microsoft Outlook for Windows will soon allow users to add custom sounds for new mail notifications, mail reactions, and Calendar reminders. This feature will roll out from late June to late July 2025 and will be available by default in the settings. No admin action is required. Coming soon to the new Microsoft Outlook for Windows desktop: In the Notification settings, users will be able to add a custom sound for new mail notifications, mail reactions, and Calendar notifications (also known as Calendar reminders). This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 491019. When this will happen: General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out late June and expect to complete by late July 2025. How this will affect your organization: The setting will be available by default. Users can find the three new options in Outlook Settings. 1. For new mail notifications: Settings > General > Notifications > Mail > New mail > Play sound: View image in new tab 2. For mail reactions: Settings > General > Notifications > Mail > Reactions > Play sound: View image in new tab 3. For Calendar notifications: Settings > General > Notifications > Calendar > Event Reminders > Play sound: View image in new tab What you need to do to prepare: This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout.
