Copilot settings in classic Outlook for Windows

Copilot settings are being added to classic Outlook for Windows under the File menu, allowing users to manage and toggle Copilot on or off. This rollout starts June 2026 with no changes to licensing, eligibility, or admin controls. No action is required, but support teams should be informed. What and Why: Copilot settings are being added to classic Outlook for Windows, allowing users to view and manage Copilot directly from the File menu, including the option to turn Copilot on or off. This change brings Copilot settings into the application where Copilot is used and does not change Copilot licensing, eligibility, or admin controls. This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 561491. Rollout Schedule: Public Preview (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in early June 2026 and expect to complete by mid-June 2026. General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in early July 2026 and expect to complete by late July 2026. Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected: Users with Microsoft 365 Copilot capabilities IT admins and helpdesk teams who support Outlook or Copilot users Platforms / Services: Classic Outlook for Windows Microsoft Copilot What will happen: Users with Copilot access in classic Outlook for Windows will see a new Copilot settings entry under the File menu. Users can: Access Copilot settings directly within Outlook Turn Copilot on or off for their own experience There are no changes to: Copilot licensing or eligibility requirements Existing admin controls or tenant-level policies The feature does not enable Copilot for users who do not already have access. Action Required / Recommendations: No action is required to prepare for this feature. Consider notifying helpdesk and support staff that Copilot settings are now available in the Outlook File menu. Update internal documentation if you provide user guidance for Copilot in Outlook. Compliance considerations: Users can turn Copilot on or off directly from the application settings experience.
